POL 495: Research Experience in Political Science

Students are able to earn credit by working on a research project with a faculty member.  Students will become familiar with all phases of the research process.  Credit & course requirements are arranged with the instructor.  Consent required to enroll.

Current Research Projects:

"Mexican Expatriates in the Crossroads of America", 3 Credit Hours

Over the last decade, hundreds of thousands of Mexicans have settled across Indiana . What prompted this unprecedented migration to the state? How do immigrants view American politics and society? What factors encourage or inhibit their civic engagement?

Students will help design a bilingual survey questionnaire and conduct in-depth interviews in Spanish or English with Mexicans living in Indianapolis, Frankfort, South Bend, Anderson, and Lafayette. Contact Professor James A. McCann for more information.
